African Flower Hexagon Crochet Tutorial

Crochet African Flower Motif is so traditional and so beautiful. You can use this motif blankets, afghans, vests, bags, where you want.

Crochica NBF created this afican flower motif and you can also see the video tutorial below. She got inspired by the Blewett flower that choose its colors. You can use different color combinations and make your own style.

Red Heart Super Saver Jumbo Yarn (4 colors)

5.5 or 6 mm crochet hook

Stitches used

Chain: ch

Single crochet:sc

Double crochet:dc

Slip stitch:Sl st

Space: sp


When you see *( )** it means you repeat the instructions in between *( )** Where you see the word ‚Äčturn‚Äč it means to turn your work clockwise and work back down the row.

Round1: Ch6,turn and insert your hook from the first ch,make a sl st.Ch3 (count as a first dc)+1 dc in the circle+*(Ch1+2dc in the circle)** repeat that 5 times and sl st to the first Ch3. At the end of the round,you have 6 groups.

Round 2: Change the color and insert the Ch1 sp+Ch5+2dc in the same sp+Ch1+*(2dc in the next sp+Ch2+2dc)** repeat that 5 times. You can finish this round with; Ch1+1dc in the first sp and sl st to the 3rd ch of Ch5.

Round 3:Sl st to the Ch2 sp and make Ch3 with same color+*(7dc in the ch2 sp+ch1)** repeat that 6 times.You can finish this round with;sl st to the first dc.

Round 4:Change the colour,*(insert your hook in the first dc of previous round and make a sc+make a sc in each st (total 7 sc)+insert your hook from the 2nd round’s Ch1 sp,grab the yarn and pull it and make a sc-you can see that in the photo)**

Round 5: Change the colour and join  in the first sc of previous round and make Ch3+2dc in each st+*(1dc in the 4th st+Ch1+1dc in the same 4th st+3dc in each st+skip the long st of previous round)**
